In general, a personal trainer is someone who:
- Helps you improve your health and fitness through a combination of weight training and aerobic exercise
- Shows you the proper form for each exercise to reduce the chance of injury
- Provides motivation to keep your fitness goals even when you don’t want to
A powerlifting coach is someone who:
- Helps you safely train for strength in three exercises: bench press, deadlift and squat
- Isn’t too concerned with bodyfat but focusses on how to lift the heaviest weights
- Is a good choice to prepare you for powerlifting competitions
Both choices are better than sitting on the couch. It depends on your goals as to which one you should choose.
